Project: Subiya Hotel & Resort

Developer: KAMCO

The project is located at the northern part of Kuwait on Khour Al Subiyah overlooking the Bubiyan Island. The beach front extends to about 500 meters and is regarded as a shallow water area with a high percentage of deposits due to its proximity to the Shatt Al-Arab Delta.

3Z Scale Bulldog R/C Rider: The World's First Rideable R/C Car

I really want one!!! This way I could ride to the desert on the 3Z truck (not haul my current Baja 5B around on my back), have fun, and go back on the 3Z truck itself... Now if they could only make a tiny plane or boat :)

According to Autoblog...
The Bulldog is a 1/3 scale remote control vehicle that sports a stadium truck body, 110cc four-stroke engine, disc brakes, automatic transmission, independent suspension and aluminum wheels. You can pilot the big R/C all day long behind a 2.4 GHz radio transmitter, but when that gets old, the Bulldog converts into a rideable ATV of sorts. (Autoblog)

Kuwait's Future Tallest Skyscraper

By the time this gets built (if ever), it would either be a catastrophe greater than The Sheikh Jaber Stadium or considering how fast skyscrapers are being built... The shortest!!!

Information:
  • Name: Burj Mubarak al Kabir. (Sounds like a great name)
  • Where: Kuwait's City of Silk. (An amazing concept)
  • Cost: $11.26 billion. (Of which $5 billion will unfortunately be "misplaced")
  • Estimated completion: 2016. (YEAAAAAAAH RIIIIIIGHT!!!... More like 2116)
  • The challenge: Erect a 1km highbuilding that’s strong enough to withstand 240km/h winds. (This thing is definitely going to crumble like a cookie with the unique cost-cutting/profit-making techniques of Kuwaiti construction companies)

Aston Martin Lagonda Concept

This SUV/SAV/Whatever they are calling them these days is still a concept. However, to me the whole thing looks like the unwanted child of a Ford and Infiniti FX. Let's hope that if this thing ever sees the light of day that it would at least have better proportions (especially nixing the front grille and putting in something smaller and that rear end is waaaay too large).

Kuwait: 7alaw El Majlis

According to ArabianBusiness.com...
Kuwait's ruler has decided to dissolve parliament, Al Jazeera television reported on Tuesday, after Islamist lawmakers asked to question the prime minister over his government's handling of the economic crisis.  (ArabianBusiness)
I am extremely happy that this is happening and I think that it is a few months overdue. These idiots in Parliament (speaking generally here... there are a few decent people in the Parliament too) should be put down and know that their unjustified, false accusations come with drastic consequences. This is one huge leap forward for our beloved country and I hope the people who wrongly voted in the last election would take some time and think about who they would like to represent them in the next National Assembly.

UPDATE: This is still an ongoing discussion and a decision will probably be reached within 48hrs-1week.

An Arabian Pimp

I heard of this guy when I was with my friends in Dubai (they told me he looks like exactly like a pimp) and I never thought that he literally looked like Snoop Dogg threw up on him. He is nicknamed MAC and is a restaurant chain owner in Ajman, UAE. It is said that he has a lovable personality and you can usually find him sitting in Starbucks Mercato in Dubai.

BTW, all clothing and accessories are original!!!

The Early Bird at the Chalet!!!

The Early Bird is my favorite breakfast restaurant in Kuwait (if not the GCC). I absolutely love the food there... Simple and extremely yummy!!! The past weekend I booked them to cater to me and my family at the chalet and their food and service was nothing short of amazing. They usually come at anytime you want and have to leave before 3 to arrive back to Fahaheel and help close up their store. You usually have to book in advance (usually 3 days prior) and set-up the menu for the food you want served with the owners (they also print out the menu for your guests to see). Prices range from KD120-KD180 for a 15-20 person gathering (also depending on the types of food you order - some are pricier than others). All in all, I highly recommend The Early Bird at the Chalet.

BTW: The picture above is the tiny second serving prepared for the late guests... I was just too hungry to take a picture of the huuuuuge first serving which nearly covered the whole table and a table nearby!!!!

La Duree at 360 Kuwait

La Duree is set to open soon at 360 Kuwait. I absolutely love what they have done to this place. The lighting is warm and cozy and the whole design gives you a relaxed European feeling.

UPDATE: Apparently these pictures are of the Bar at Ladurée on Champs Elysées, Paris, France. I'll hopefully post some Kuwait pics as soon as I could get them.

Nuclear Power in Kuwait

According to instant news,
Kuwait is considering developing nuclear power with the help of a French firm to meet demand for electricity and water desalination, a Kuwaiti newspaper quoted the country's ruler as saying today. (InstantNews)
Is this what the 5.4 million nuclear pills are eventually for? This is definitely not a good idea considering the many idiotic ways most of the major companies try to cut costs in order to get a bigger profit margin from the construction contract (Let us just imagine that this is not a factor with the French group for now), the heat in Kuwait is a major problem too, the poor maintenance I bet this thing will have, the terrible ways Kuwait will think of for dumping the nuclear bi-products, etc.; we are surely going to see a nuclear meltdown, leak, or contamination and be needing those pills sometime in the future.

Toys 'R' Us Coming to Kuwait

Apparantly the Al-Futtaim Group is getting Toys 'R' Us along with Marks & Spencer and Intersport to 360 Mall. (Arabian Business)

Auto Wudu Washer

This seems like a very clever new way for Wudu. Although my one concern here is that people would just place there hands, feet, and face into it and let the water flow without rinsing themselves with their hands; which to me is a really, really lazy and ignorant way to get ready for prayer.

Sony Idou (12.1 Megapixel Phone)

I hope the lens on this phone is good because most photographers will tell you that the headline megapixel count is not as important as the quality of the lens and numerous other things. While Sony has somewhat of a decent track record in the field of producing good quality camera-phones, I doubt the lens in the Idou will be anywhere near as good as the average purpose built digital camera. If anyone was wondering, Arabic was only available in Facebook as a translation application which didn't work that well. Now Arabic is a full option in the settings panel for any user to add. The interface is completely in Arabic and was translated by facebook users themselves (All translated content could be commented and voted on by users in order to verify its accuracy).

Wrestling back in Kuwait

Back in the 1990s  the WWE toured Kuwait several times and held tournaments, but other than talent visits to military bases professional wrestling has been banned in Kuwait for over 10 years. This might be all tied to an infamous appearance by Vader on Good Morning Kuwait that led to Vader being held under house arrest for 10 days in 1997. (Video Above)

The spectacular event will precede and conclude with phenomenal ceremonies of lazer & firework displa. The event hopes to draw up to 90,000 spectators watching this show live at the arena, which will be simultaneously televised for 3 days. (Wrestlezone)
