The Biggest RC Planes in the World

With winter finally here many of my friends are going out and buying RC planes and indulging in what I think is one hell of an fun hobby (especially when they get bored from just flying around and start getting into dogfights with one another). I stumbled upon these RC models while researching what I would like to buy (However, these planes cost over KD10,000 and the answer to whether I would buy one is a definitive No).

But these behemoth of planes do raise the question... if I strapped someone to the back of these things would it still take off?

Movie Review: Quantum of Solace (2008)

After a masterful performance in Casino Royale, Daniel Craig as James Bond has degenerated into a generic action character that relies less on the combination of savvy and skill and more on ruthless brute force. The last time I checked, Bruce Willis in Die Hard was doing that sort of thing.

But ironically, what makes Quantum of Solace a bit of a joy to watch are the very good action and chase sequences in the first act of the film. We see a finely crafted car chase scene in the Italian highway and a run-around in a town Siena, Italy. Somewhere in the middle of the movie, action sequences were superimposed with an operatic soundtrack. Pretty spiffy, if you ask me.

But the real let down is the story. James Bond films were always about villains and their schemes that were easily understood by the audience. The villain was really a scrub, and the scheme was pretty weak. And how it was tied down together was really confusing at times. I can't help but compare this Quantum of Solace to Casino Royale. If Casino Royale was a royal flush, Quantum of Solace is just a straight.

This is a fun way to pass the time at work or elsewhere... Zensoft created Super Obama World, while the graphics are something from the 60's, the game still manages to be minorly addictive.

This is an audio clip of vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin getting prank called by a comedy duo called "The Masked Avengers" from a Montreal-based radio station (who prank called as French President Nicholas Sarkozy). I especially like the part where he mock her about hunting and killing from a helicopter LooooL... This woman is so gullible.

Animals in costumes/clothes freak me out (especially cats, because I don't like cats in the first place)... But whoever thought of the terrorist cat certainly IMO deserves an award for best Halloween costume of 2008.

Muxlim Aims to Be a Facebook for Muslims

Muxlim.com, a Finnish-based social network site for Muslim communities, has announced the arrival of "Muxlim Pal," a virtual world that adheres to the Muslim code. Muxlim Pal, essentially, is a Second Life for Muslims, where the women wear virtual hijabs, or veils, that cover their faces and and where everybody goes to the prayer 'room' five times daily. 

Muxlim Pal hopes to reach citizens of Muslim countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Iran that seek the virtual world experience, but are unable because authorities block sites like Second Life, MySpace and Facebook (or at least parts of them). These sites -- orparts of them (like the dating apps on Facebook) -- are blocked because they do not adhere to Muslim codes of conduct. 

Muxlim Pal's motto is "Enhancing the Muslim Lifestyle," and with nearly one-fifth of the world's population being Muslim, corporate marketeers and advertisers will be eager to enter this virtual world in order to promote and sell their brands, just as they do on Facebook and MySpace. Okay, so maybe it'll be a nice place for Muslim and non-Muslim folks to stay in touch and socialize, but we hope the site will also provide US Foreign Policy movers and shakers an opportunity to experience and understand the Muslim life before engaging in any unilateral invasions.
